Action Codes (the container-movement vocabulary)
Every Container History row is one dated action against a box.

DCHF starts the storage clock; the container's next LODF stops it — that pairing is
what the demurrage reports charge on.
Statuses & Types
- Container status —
FCL(full container load) ·EMPTY·LCL. Movements use FCL / EMPTY; a box's current state is its latest action, denormalised onto the container for the list view. - Manifest type —
Container·Breakbulk·LCL - Breakbulk. Assigned to full-container moves; empty repositioning carries no manifest. - Charge type —
STORAGE·DETENTION·POWER(reefer power). - Demurrage period —
OPEN(still accruing) →CLOSED→CLOSED_INVOICED; plusWAIVED,DISPUTED,INTERNAL. - Demurrage invoice —
DRAFT→SENT(orFAILED). - Detention flag (on a movement) —
PENDING·OVERDUE·PAID·WAIVED·CLEARED.
Depots, Rates & Geography
- Lane — a scheduled service between Port Meridian (mainland hub) and Halcyon (island), with smaller feeder ports (Kestrel Bay, Saltmarsh, Emberton, Verdon Cove). ~85% of voyages work the Meridian ↔ Halcyon trunk.
- Depots —
MRD(Port Meridian) andHAL(Halcyon). Currency is USD. - Free days — 7 for storage, 30 for detention.
- Rate bands (per container size × depot, in
Depot Charge Rate): storage/detention run in tiers (e.g. days 8–14, 15–21, 22+), with a flat reefer power rate.
Demo Data at a Glance
- ~2,200 containers · ~150 voyages · 11,000+ movements · 758 clients · ~440 demurrage periods.
- Roles:
demo_admin(developer) ·demo_supervisor(supervisor) ·demo_viewer(read-only). - The dataset is kept "live" — a background top-up appends recent movements so the dashboard's rolling-window figures stay current.
Rules of Thumb
- Demurrage = days between
DCHFand the nextLODF, minus the depot's free days, charged at the tiered daily rate for that size, charge type and depot. A box discharged and not yet reloaded is an open, still-accruing period. - An owner marked not
demurrage_applicable(e.g. the house fleet) is excluded from charging. - Storage is billed to the consignee, detention to the shipper.
- Chargeable periods bundle into an invoice (Invoice Run); clients with open charges are chased by Send Notifications.
- Duplicate clients: a variant flagged
possible_duplicatepoints at a canonical client;Client Aliasmaps raw import-source names to the resolved client. - Transshipment: roughly one movement in six notes a connecting-leg voyage (some recorded only as "voyage not recorded").
